Who are likely to suffer from diabetes?
Diabetes is a disease that transpires due to the malfunction of our body metabolism. It is characterized by high blood sugar levels, which result from defects in insulin secretion due to the malfunctioning beta cells present in our insulin generating gland called Pancreases. The groceries we eat are the fuels of our body which produce glucose and are carried to the cells. Insulin is the carter of glucose in our body. But, when pancreas fails to generate insulin or when body cells refuge to interact with the insulin then glucose is wasted with sweats and urine.
Although diabetes has been a major subject of study for many centuries the core reason is not yet fully understood. As per the records, it was the 3rd dynasty of Egyptian civilization that diabetes was encountered. Since, then many studies and many experiments were carried on but diabetes still remains unknown in some extent.
Different types of diabetes:
Diabetes is classified into three different divisions according to its symptoms, medications and cause. They are:
Type1:
A person with Type 1 diabetes has low or almost no capacity to produce insulin in their body. Type1 diabetic patient suffers from the faulty secretion of insulin by the pancreas. Type1 diabetes is often seen before age 30, but this may also strike at any age to anyone. The actual reason is not known yet but there are several theories and research going on. People suffering form type1 diabetes should undergo insulin treatment everyday to survive.
Type 2:
Type2 diabetes is also referred as non-insulin dependent diabetes. This occurs due to the malfunctioning of body metabolism. In type2 diabetes, insulin and glucose produced by the body is ignored by the cells or the pancreas fails to produce enough insulin as needed by the body. Type2diabetes are often seen in the people who are above40 in age. But, the probability of type2 diabetes increases with the growing age. Generally, 80% of people suffer from type2 diabetes.
Gestational diabetes:
Gestational diabetes is seen only in pregnant women. The probability of developing gestational diabetes by pregnant women is 4% of all pregnant women in the United States. This is temporary diabetes which automatically disappears when the baby is born but the women can develop type2 diabetes within 5 to 10 years.
Women who become diabetics during their pregnancy are likely to have a family history of diabetes. Obesity also plays an important role in developing gestational diabetes.
Pre-diabetes:
Pre-diabetes is a stage where the blood sugar level of an individual increases more then the normal point but not that high to declare him/her as a diabetic. If pre-diabetes is well handled and if the blood sugar level is maintained by proper diets and physical exercise then the risk of diabetes remains low. But, poorly handled pre-diabetes can lead to type2 diabetes.
Obese people:
Obesity is the major cause of premature diabetes no matter if the person belongs to a particular ethnic group or not. It is also seen that some medication that people use to reduce their fats has unnatural side effects which hampers the body system and insulin production. If you are obese then the best way to reduce your fats is hidden in proper diets and physical efforts.
Poor exercise:
Exercise and physical work outs are the best medication for diabetes. Even if you are diabetic then body exercise can help you maintain your blood sugar level. Engaging yourself in swimming, gym, jogging etc are really beneficial and it also assists us with strong immune. Poor exercise rises the risk of both type1 and type2 diabetes.
Age:
Age factor are counted essential for diabetes occurrence. A person generally develops the risk of type2 diabetes when they are above 40years in age. But, incase of type1 diabetes age factor has less or no influence. But, providing our body with balanced diet and proper physical exercises we can really push our self towards the safe zone.
Poor diets:
Food and groceries are the essential fuel for our body. A balance diet is a proper mixture of body demanded proteins, vitamins, fats and carbohydrates. Body can produce more energy; build strong immune only when they are provided with proper diets.
If you are a diabetic then you must be aware of what you take as your diet because high calories and fats included foods can be harmful and dangerous.
Heredity:
Heredity is another major factor for diabetes. In many cases the cause of diabetes is the hereditary influence. Although we cannot say that it’s always the same case but in most of the cases it’s found true. It’s better to consult your doctor if you have a diabetic patient in your family member.
